Fusion dance workshop and party
09.08, 20:00–21:30 (Europe/Berlin), Wood Stage
Sprache: English

Introduction workshop to fusion dance—a coupled dance, where we connect and interpret the music together. Similar to acro yoga the roles are flexible, and not bound to the gender. The participants will learn the basics of connection in dance—a way of non-verbal communication, that can be useful in acro as well. After the workshop, we will continue with DJ session and a party so everybody can explorer this new way of connecting with others.

Fusion is a contemporary couple dance focused on connection and free interpretation. The practice itself is very different from acro yoga, but the vibes are similar—in many places you can see overlap between acro and fusion communities.

The dance is based on both partners communicating usually with touch—feeling each other and interpreting the music together within the connection. It’s intuitive for people with some dancing background and/or body awareness and easy to catch up for complete beginners—especially if they do some couple exercises such as acro yoga.

The music choice depends a lot on the DJ, but often it’s a broad mix of modern music: electronic, instrumental covers of pop hits, some hip-hop, afro and latin. It’s often music that you could hear at a lower to mid-intensity part of an ecstatic dance session.

As a mostly coupled dance, it offers participants a new way of connecting with each other. Similar like in acro yoga, the roles are not assigned to genders: everybody can lead, follow, or switch roles during the dance. It’s common to see people of the same gender dancing together, which makes it more accessible for everybody.

We would like to do 1-1.5h dance workshop for beginners in fusion or in dancing in general, followed with a few hours of dance party.
