Moonwalking & Hip–Leg Coordination in Handstands
2026-08-10 , Double Cloud (Special/Dance/Counterbalance)
Language: English

This workshop explores advanced leg and hip coordination in handstands through asymmetrical and asynchronous movement patterns. Participants will work on developing true independence of each leg, introducing the moonwalking exercise, where one leg advances while the other retreats, alternating foot articulation between flexed and pointed positions. The work begins on the floor to build proprioception, spatial awareness, and coordination, before transferring the same movement logic into inverted positions. During the second half of the workshop, the focus shifts to hip independence, allowing participants to clearly perceive and control each side of the pelvis, and progressively introduce asynchronous leg actions while maintaining balance, scapular protraction, and overall alignment in handstand.

Originally from Chile, he began his artistic journey as a member of the company Cirkundantes, specializing in hand balancing. He developed his skills independently by engaging with various communities and circus schools in Santiago, such as "La Chimba" and "Circo del Mundo," before moving to Portugal to attend INAC in Famalicão specializaing in handstands.

He is the co-creator and director of @intensivo.acrobatico, a nature-based retreat founded in 2017 that brings together disciplines such as Hand to Hand, Acrodance, Thai Massage, Acroyoga, and Stretching.
